If I were a Church

I would ask my congregation to look inside themselves and outward at the world around them to find truth, integrity and honesty.
I would preach the seeking of wisdom and a quest for knowledge, as I could not provide such to a degree of satisfaction.
I would encourage family, friendship and community.
I would share my thoughts on the human being and how we can live together in peace.
I would ask for nothing while giving everything to those who have less than myself.
I would meditate and ask others to join me, as I ponder the fate of my own life and of humanity.
I would volunteer and donate to worthy causes in my vicinity and abroad.
I would seek answers to important questions, I would ask advise from scholars, visionaries & leaders and then pass on that information to my "flock".
Things would clarify...
I would find out, no, figure out who was against me and eliminate their presence. I would make my word the most important word of all. The yin to my yang would be eradicated, Extermination of those who would oppose my thoughts would be imminent.
Happiness would ensue and the world would be a better place because of me and the church that I built.
Is there a Christ? Is there a Satan? IT DOES Not matter.... Would a church that encompasses everything that WE (our own selves and beliefs) hold as true, right and just be the ultimate answer to everything that we strive for? We (Satanists) tend to be "above" the sheep and religious fanatical thought. We tend to think for ourselves. But I bet most of us wish that those stupid sheep would "follow" our way of thinking sometimes....or are all organized churches, movements, and religions just putting too much emphasis on converting and swaying the masses to one person's ideas and ideals and should be shunned? Do you give a shit if a cousin of yours' is no longer a Xtian? Would you rather he/she be a Satanist...or would you rather keep it all to yourself and call him/her an imbecile for the rest of your days?
Would any of you prefer a Satanic world? If the answer is NO, then quit your bitching. Hug thy neighbor and their bible. If the answer is YES....really? Think about it. A bunch of smug, intelligent, over/under achievers that think for themselves, value life and believe nothing that is just spouted from another's mouth? Pleasure everywhere and nothing to make us feel guilty........ ok, I'm winning my own argument here.

Some of the main points in modern satanic philosophy are outlined in the "Nine Satanic Statements" and as simple as it is many people including some Church of Satan members still misunderstood the writing.
1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!
2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!
5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!
7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his divine spiritual and intellectual development, has become the most vicious animal of all!
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!
Indulgence is the fulfilling of desire, the force that's drives us towards our goals and our wants. The urge to experience life and to live it to the fullest. Do what makes you feel good, Do what you think is right for yourself and others. Abstinence is the suppressing of desires and wants, the repressing of ones true nature and drives. Satan represents doing what one desires and fulfilling the goals of ones will. Vital existence is our true existence, our life here on earth. The reality we know of everyday. Pipe dreams are the hopes and dreams of weak theistic religions, thinking of a heavenly here after and wasting their life serving a lie. Satan represents Reality. Undefiled wisdom is the wisdom you gather in life through your earthy experience. Knowledge that you learn from other people around you that you have proven works, and is true to you through the experience of it. Undefiled wisdom is natural law, Science and common sense. Self- Deceit is the holding of false beliefs as truth and believing in things, events, or person's that are not proven as fact experiencing this cardinal sin is very common so dont worry. Satan represents experience and natural law. You can't love everyone and if you think you do your wasting your energy and depriving it to those that should really have it. Loving only those that to you deserve that love is placing your love on a higher level, it gives your love worth and respect. To be incapable of hate is to be incapable of love, without hate loves has nothing to be measured against. Theistic people say to love all for the fear of "God". Who would you trust more, the Satanist who's love is strong, and goes to those who are deserving of it for the sake of himself and what he feels is right or to the Christian who would only love you for the fear of God? Who would kill you if they had the chance when it comes down to it? Delusional fear of a myth is common in the theistic world. Satan represents real love and real hate. Satanism does not like cowards (bitches, pussies, rats, rankers, etc. etc.), from domestic violence to murder we fight for survival and will defend that life or our loved ones until we are dead. Never bitch out; never let someone punk you around. Be vigilant and strong, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth no matter what you are just dealing with another Human. Satan Represents Courage. A note on Survival: Survival is not very hard these days. Bums can even survive in this world and run away teens. Survival isn't an issue to a middle class Satanist, just the enhancement of the quality of life and the practice of ones desire. Responsibility is the most important of all; indulgence, compulsion, desire, false guilt, and repression are all keep in check with responsibility, natural Law and common sense. This word is what keeps you alive and out of jail, responsibility! And responsibility should only be given to those who can use it properly; all others are slaves to one thing or another and a lesser human being. Psychic vampires are not blood drinking gothic teens or new age energy feeders, they are all the social parasites, slackers and leeches of this world, those people who get by on others and cant stay alive on there own. Satan represents common sense and hard work. Mankind is not special in the universe. We are an animal like any other with a high level of intelligence and social development because of man's religious ego and self centered delusional divinity we have neglected reality and the world we live in for a false here after concept as "Gods" favorite little people. I say "FUCK THE BULLSHIT!" Satan represents the carnal man, the true undefiled self. The sins of the Christian church are all suppressed desires and indulgences of man, which can be healthy when performed with responsibility and common sense guided by the laws of nature and your will. Remember, indulgence is not compulsion, never become a slave to your desire, don't let it destroy you or those who love. The Satanist is always in control of his mind. Without the Devil to point their fingers at and to threaten people with, the church has stayed alive. Satan is mans best friend. Just to clarify I have left the Church of Satan for the corruption of LaVey's teachings!
"The Dark Gift of The Black Flame"

Snazzy title huh? I'm sure it got the attention of our Goth audience. However, there is a certain truth in the title, which I feel moved to write about. Once I fully embraced Satanism some eight years or so ago, I became aware of something inside of me that was for the lack of a better term was a "guide" of sorts. I later came to understand that this guide is the "Black Flame" that Satanists speak of.
My relationship with this guide has been very close and very brutal. It has been to me very enlightening and at the same time very disturbing. In our relationship, the Black Flame has shown me not just the deceit of religion but also it has gone on to show me lies of everyday living. You name it. Everything. Government, advertising, media, corporations, "accepted" historical record, our teachers, our co workers, our friends, our neighbors, our loved ones, and from time to time worse of all, ourselves. The Black Flame leaves no area unlit.
The Black Flame does what no religion or philosophy dares do. It shows you the truth, and the truth can and does hurt. Oh, the best of us seek the truth, we honor it, but real truth is a two edged sword that will cut to the depth of the seekers soul. Trust me on this one. There was many an hour that I've despaired over this gift knowing the things I know. From the White House down to my house, The Black Flame has shown all. And all is not well.
Early on in my education of Satanism, it was said of the Left Hand Path that it is a most difficult road and if for no other reason than for what I already stated, I found this to be very true. Living in a world that is so deeply immersed in fabrication can be a daunting task for the seeker of truth.
Still, It is the path that I have chosen and the path that I walk to this day. Oddly enough a path that the outside world considers to be that of "the Evil One" for me is the only one that will open the door of brutal honesty. (There is a certain irony in life sometimes is there not?) In any event the days of despairing over this gift are short lived, because the Black Flame as much as it casts an unflattering light on life as we know it also at the same time has called on me to rise above the filth of deceit, to be the better than the world I live in, to beat the "white lighters" at their own game. I'll admit it, sometimes it's very tough and costly, but at the end of the day the rewards I reap are more than worth it.
Modern Satanism: A series of essays

What is Modern Satanism? This is an interesting queary that everyone has asked, without a truely "straight answer".
Without delving into the other "answers", we will stick to this... Modern Satanism is a philosophy based around common sense and respect. It is a sound concept that eliminates the "need" of deities, and replaces it with a sense of self worth and personal value. It eliminates "sin" and replaces it with responsibility.
There has been a number of groups, churches, and organizations that attempt to promote their brand of satanism to the community. Each of those tend to sell the same exact thing, however. Some even attempt to "over throw" the Church of Satan. Of course, there are a handful of groups and such that do stand out and promote an excellent school of thought to be absorbed. and explored.
Modern Satanism at its core is based around the philosophies of such individuals as Ayn Rand, Fredriech Nitzsche, Shan Tzu, and Ragnar Redbeard. Modern Satanism has even incorporated the magical concepts of Goetia, Thelema, and various pagan crafts into it.
With those as a basis for Modern Satanism, it only makes sense that it continues to evolve based on other occultic and non-occultic practices and philosophies. Each of those absorb tend to be streamlined or altered enough to fit into the philosophy adherent to Modern Satanism, of course. Some philosophies that are absorbed can even be those found in the texts of the Christian Bible.
Now, I heard the gasps of horror over that last sentence. The Christian Bible has series of wonderful of stories with strong philosophical messages. Strip away the theistic jargon, and you are left with a strong philosophy.

Modern Satanism: The misconceptions
There are some popular misconceptions of who are satanists. Many of these misconceptions are simple leftovers of religious contotations embedded in the psyche of the American society. These beliefs are rather silly, and insulting to any intelligent satanist. Others are just perceptions brought on by the more "obvious" elements of Modern Satanism.
Firstly, the religious conotations brought onto Modern Satanism. It is believed that all satanists worship the devil. That all are antisocial deviants that partake in blood sacrifices, rape virgins, kill babies, and have wild orgies. All of those could NOT be further from the truth. Much of that is more or less hollywood myth designed to play on the fears of the viewers to bring in profits. It is also what is taught to he average individual to believe.
Second, the obvious elements of Modern Satanism. The obvious elements are normally overzealous teenagers that have just discovered The Satanic Bible for the first time. These kids take each word at face value and run out to proclaim the absolute wisdom they now possess. Unfortunately for them, that absolute wisdom is not very absolute, or wise. They use it as an excuse to dress like it was halloween (confusing us with goths), flash hellish symbols about with their hands as if part of a gang, and constantly yell out "Hail Satan", or such.
That is rather funny in a lot of ways, but it is seriously annoying. These kids fail to realize that the average Elder Satanist looks no different from those that they point their Devils Horns at and scream their "blasphemies".
The realities of Modern Satanism. Yes, there are those that have the Tattoo's, the peircings, and dress all dark and broodingly. Alternatively, and on a larger scale, there are those that dress like the average "Joe". I for one am one of those. There isn't a need to advertise myself as a "freak", or as different. It also allows myself to be taken seriously by those that I meet that are not satanists.
The biggest problem faced with a satanist is discrimination. Unfortunately, that discrimination will be looked over in favor of a christian biasness. You will see the satanists that have the loud appearence complain the loudest. Here is where LaVey made a great deal of sense..."Responsibility to the responsible." If you can not handle the fact you will be ridiculed for your appearence, then you shouldn't have done what you did. Forcing a person to accept you for who you are is important, but they will not take you seriously if you look like you should be knocking on doors begging for candy.
As a Modern Satanist, I understand the misconceptions, and the realities, of being a satanist. It is important to break away from those misconceptions and re-establish Modern Satanists as "normal people" in society, rather than the mocked hooligans they are normally percieved.

Satanism Today: An essay Part 1
Satanism in the modern world has evolved into many things. First, it has always been about the christian "Satan". The expelled angel Lucifer from heaven. The antithesis to what Jehova/YHWH stands for. Secondly, it is about the worshipping of the snake, Set. The snake that tempted Adam and Eve in the garden paradise, Eden. Thirdly, and perhaps the most popular form, Modern Satanism/LaVeyan Satanism. An atheistic approach deriving the title of Satan from the ancient hebrew word meaning "Adversary" or "Accusor".
This essay will delve into the third example, Modern Satanism. Many individuals practice it. Many have read the Satanic Bible. Each has drawn his or her own conclusions based upon what was read in that book. Of course, the Church of Satan is the forerunner in what the Satanic Bible represents. Anton LaVey's church to give all his followers a place to "worship". Unfortuneately, it isn't that any longer. Some think that it never was in the first place.
I digress however. Modern Satanism has branched beyond just what was written by Anton LaVey. Modern Satanism has slowly incorporated many other philosophies. Modern Satanism has become the branching structure of thought adopted by those that value thier ability to express "Free Thought", to demonstrate "Free Will". At the same time, Modern Satanism also gives the individual the chance to experience life without guilt of knowng they are doing wrong by the doctrines of their philosophy. Aleister Crowley's "Do What Thou Wilt shall be the whole of the law" is a wonderful concept, or is it?
Do what thou wilt has been widely adopted and accepted as the basis of Modern Satanism. Go out and do what you want without worry. Unfortunately that isn't exactly how it works. LaVey made the comment, "Responsibility to the Responsible". What he meant by that is that there are indeed consequences for our actions. Do what you will, in moderation and responsibly. Shamefully, this is indeed something that many young satanists neglect.
In fact, it could be argued that Modern Satanism is not something for younger people. Does this mean shield them from it? No, but infact educate them on the responsibilies that inherently come with the philosophies of Modern Satanism. Show them what it means to lead a satanic lifestyle. It is time to move away from the "fed to the wolves", "I am alone on this path" way of thinking. We should embrace the younger generation of up and coming satanists. We must show them the way, so to speak.
